We’ve been the Humanities

My nicely-framed avatar for the week.

My nicely-framed avatar for the week.

Hopefully you've seen that I've been having a different 'curatorial' experience over the past week. I was lucky to run the 'We the Humanities' Twitter feed for seven days, taking the opportunity to talk to this humanities audience about some of the things dear to my heart. I introduced myself to them in a post that I cross-posted here last week.

Of course, I talked about the various projects that I'm currently involved in: the contemporary art exhibition Unseen: The Lives of Looking by Dryden Goodwin; the Travellers' Tails project; plans for the Queen's House, and more. But I also took the chance to talk more broadly about working in museums and the experiences and concerns of the sector: about regional museums, social media, gallery display styles, and museum facilities.

I also asked questions about followers' experiences of being interdisciplinary, and of being a digital academic, about the positives and vulnerabilities that come with that. I shared all the different projects, blogs and people that brighten my museum world. And I talked about the tricksy word curator, and whether I could, in fact, 'curate' a Twitter feed at all.

I've saved the tweets from the week, which also nicely encapsulate what you might see from me if you choose to join me on Twitter as well as on here.
